Who I Am

My name is Gracie Sawyer. I’m a missionaries kid who was born and raised, until the ripe old age of 18, in the Dominican Republic. I’ve lived in 2 places on island, one far up in the mountains and one right by the sea. The school I graduated from, Doulos Discovery School is a bilingual expeditionary learning school located in the mountains of the Dominican Republic. It is often compared to a performance school due to the amount of public speaking and presenting the students do. That is to say I’m a decent public speaker, if I do say so myself. Another skill developed there was graphic design, which I have a passion for.

This passion and skill was noticed by one of my leaders who then recruited me into making T-shirt designs for a non-profit. I ended up loving the experience and making 2 more designs for that non-profit. By the point it was time to graduate I had made a website, 3 individual t-shirt designs, a small t-shirt store on bonfire, and many posters, infographics, articles, and slides.

Once I graduated from Doulos Discovery School, I moved to a small town near Houston Texas during the summer of 2024. I have always loved to learn, because of this I have a way to many hobbies and fun facts in my pocket. One of my core beliefs is to stay curious, always moving toward adapting and learning. That is why I love Anthony J. D’Angelos quote so much, “Develop a passion for learning. If you do you will never cease to grow.”

I believe that growth is a necessary part of life, if you cease to grow then you are stuck. If I had to describe myself in few words I would say that I am a creator, a thinker, an explorer, a server and above all a learner.
